Timid Heart-Destined To Be A Loner.

Karma was born and nurtured in a beautiful hamlet of eastern Bhutan. Caused to be born as the youngest in the boy's family, he was treated with an excessive favor. Privileged to be the luckiest and the most pampered of the family, he grew up as a village urchin. Being brought up in a big boy's family with four other elder brothers, he enjoyed everything including the emotional help from his elders. He was the mischievous lad of the small village. He frequently troubled his neighbors and the caretaker of the Temple.

Associating with his only friend of the same age Dorji, they made up the perfect match in doing anything that people thought was an inconceivable prank. They had an intimate bonding of good friendship which kept them together throughout their childhood days till high school. It was only after 9th grade that they had to separate as Karma left the prestigious school owing to some unfavorable circumstances. Though apart from one another and miles away, they were in touch through letters.

The act of departure is often seen as more than a melodramatic action. Going away from the dear ones set up an emotional infliction. At home, they relished unconstrained liberty and freedom to lavish upon. Life for Karma was no longer the same. He was ought to be a changed person in the new environment. People around were just his acquaintances. Such a situation obliged him to be mentally fit in the new atmosphere.

It took no time for him to adjust and adapt. Getting out of rustic life posed a challenge to him. Of all, he was barred from doing all sorts of pranks. He got drenched thinking of his ludicrous act which gave him the nostalgic vibe. Befriended a few of the classmates and soon became good friends. During leisure time, friends talked about the girls at their school. Such talks didn't bring any sense of curiosity to him, not even to the slightest point. So did his friends show little interest in talking about the topic to him.

Even in the class, he was so silent. He never uttered a word unless someone came to him and talked to him. To be precise, he was a faint-hearted guy and had no quality to stand out confident and distinctive in front of new classmates. He blushed when his girl mates greeted him. That probably described the difference between the children who are brought up in the town and rural areas. Undeniably, it was one of the stumbling blocks of growing up in a family with a whole bunch of boys.

It is something strange and surprising to see the sudden change from being the boldest and naughtiest to a quiet timid guy. He was the heartthrob of many girls in his new school. Few had the audacity to express their feelings via his friends. As always, he never reacted,  which made the girls feel pessimistic. He lacked conviction, boldness, courage, and remained a loner forever.

Trip To A Dreamland.

I felt so strangled that I yearned for free fall under the influence of nothing. Just as I coveted., I saw myself in the air freely flowing in the mercy of wind direction  Excessively filled with emotions and delightful feeling, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Just in the span of a few mins, I could travel thousands of miles, revisited places, and explored new ones. At one particular instance, I flew over a place where lots of beautiful girls were gearing up for the class.

The place without the possibility of mistake seemed familiar to my eyes. I had to run way back my narrow buffer memory way to check out if it is the same place which I visited before, but couldn't sort it out. Seeing those girls readying with books in their hands, I concluded the place to be a college. The place was well structured with buildings constructed with brick masonry. It appeared like a model college with an implausible outlook and appearance.

I remained suspended in the air as if in defiance of gravity and starred at the girls with my eyes fixed. Far from the corner of the corridor, came a girl which fixated my attention only to her out of many. She was tall, fair, and ravishing. Just couldn't describe the excessive beauty and elegance she possessed. Her resemblance to the Goddess in classical mythology usually depicted as a beautiful maiden was just uncanny.

She soon disappeared into one of the classrooms and vanished out of my sight. The state of supreme happiness persisted within me for quite a time. I could no longer wait for her to return from the class as the sky above me got blanketed with thick clouds and boisterous wind. I just managed to fly over to some other place just before I got soaked in the heavy downpour.

As I was about to revert and retrospect that very moment which was greatly pleasuring, my roommate banged on my door and woke me up. Immediately reached for my watch to see that it was half-past eight.  For so long, I was dreaming and that euphoric feeling stretched my facial muscles. I was in the world of fantasy for quite a long time. Realized that it was a dream and a moment of joy.

Gossip With My Room mate.

It is not only the girls who gossip, we boys often talk over silly as well as important issues. I had a chitchat with my room mate yesterday. We talked about the unveiling of the authenticated FIFA at Changlimithang to the developments in and around Thimphu and lot more. He touched upon the job opportunities for the graduates and asked me if I had anything to say on it as I was at home for vacation.

To be frank, I ain't aware of the total intake announced by the RCSE, but heard there is only one slot for computer science which I shared with him. He remained silent and his eyes clearly reflected  a bit of concerns. He asked me the scopes in private sector which I had to say no as I really don't know the real opportunities in privates and corporations.

I too felt the weight on my shoulder when he came up with the talk on employment opportunities. As a student, to pin down infront of the books is the most monotonous and a heavy task. Some subjects make us to catch some Z's and rest are encrypted which we simply give up. Yet every student aspires to be in organisation, whereby young talents are considered and employed with great pride.

Being a student myself, I do wish of working in a dynamic organisation. When we are students right now, we complain of this trifling student life which we gonna miss it forever after few years from now. People say working life isn't charming and amusing as college life, but I take it as a step ahead in ones life.

Everyone is concerned because of the staggering number of students graduating every year. The limited seats available in the job market has left the graduates idle for years. Our government has adopted various ways to resolve the unemployment issues, which is laudable and worth of million dollar appreciation.

We can fathom the challenges faced by our country with growing population. If only we had multinational companies, the problem could be solved. For the least, it would be beneficial if our private sectors were well established which can lessen the burden.

On other hand, there are reasons for us to smile graciously for being born in the country like a paradise. Everyone lives with utmost happiness, joy and I assume this is what people are actually born for. We never realize the importance of education and remain less pragmatic until we reach the job market where competition is very tough.

Imagine what would be running in the minds of those pursuing Computer Science when the government slots hardly exceeds five. Similarly, thousands of graduates sit for civil service examination for about some three hundred vacancies.

I can foresee the stiff competition that I must face it boldly. The ever changing scenario has contemplated people to think vaguely. People often feel the goose bump all over the body with a fear of remaining jobless. At our level as a young and jubilant heart, everyone has to be innovative and inquisitive in our own ways.

We should rather feel cheerful and thankful to the government for their touch on to the youths. No one should feel dejected with the current state of job market for we firmly believe every problem is solvable in one or other ways. Just like they don't want anyone of us to be left idle, we should also work on our own to help them resolve the unemployment issues was what my friend uttered which was worth taking in.

Welcome 2014

It has been almost a month or two that I haven't opened my blog and updated it. I was away from my college on a month-long vacation which was refreshing. Getting together with family, friends, and close ones imparted me with the vitality and energy for the upcoming semester.

I welcome the new year with new plans, dreams, and most importantly with prayers and good wishes to all the people around. I got no resolutions this time too since finding a solution to my resolution has always been a problem. Even if I had any, I wouldn't have lived up to my words like many other people.

Who knows, 2014 may be an adventurous and tripping year for me. People might have celebrated the special evening with their loved ones and friends around the bonfire or in party halls and at home with heavy brands of liquor and fireworks. For the last few days, I made trips to many new places and eventually reached where I sojourn.

Celebrated new year's eve in a different manner. I saw myself on the train heading for my college. All I heard was the rattling sound of the wheel and whistling of the train which woke me up time and again. The chill midnight wind blowing through the spaces between the shutter and the window frame of the train kept me awake until morning.

I toured the nearby compartments and bogies to see if anyone was awake to greet upon the arrival of 2014. I just saw people catching a sound sleep,  curled up under the blanket. Surely, they might have had the mind to celebrate in a different way than snoring if it was at home. The day-long journey fagged them out to the point of exhaustion putting them into a deep sleep.

It was totally a different experience for me and a unique way of welcoming the new year with the loud honking and rattling sound of the train wheel against the rail track. People often say that if we drink during new year's eve, we land up drinking throughout the year or quite often. If it is the case, I should see a year full of tripping memories and excitement.

Happy New Year

PARTY OF THE YEAR

I was totally flabbergasted when one of my friends reminded about my natal day to the fellow mates in the class. Gosh, I was so sure and confident that they won't remember it and I was wrong. They even knew the exact date and the worst of all, they are expecting a grand celebration. I tried not to give a heed on it and attempted to divert the topic only to go in vain. Everyone seemed to be excitedly waiting to celebrate my birthday to which I showed no sign of positivity. No one is at my back to support me this time. They all want my birthday treat by any means. Despite the money constraints, they want me to blow a huge party. I heartily laughed, as if I was taking heed of their words, except in jest.

September days has gone too far with just a week left to gladly accept the fresh October month. I am yet to think of whether I should take their words and celebrate my birthday which I normally don't. They try to remind me almost every day with a heavy smile in their mouth. Ofcourse, I know why they are prompting persistently this time unlike the previous years. My silence will deject my friends because they are going to miss the anniversary celebration of my 25 years of stay which will never come back in future.

They are like, how can one simply keep mum when it is time to be in the euphoric mood. I asked jokingly if they would turn up to my birthday party with sizable gifts and all roar into laughter. So, I said I will also laugh if someone reminds me thereafter. This is once in a life time opportunity to make it a memorable moment, avers a friend sitting behind me and all are there to agree with him. Another guy says, Silver Jubilee celebration, Wow!! I am expecting it to be the number one contender for the party of the year contest. Everybody tries to add on what has already been fermented, leaving me in the state where unsnarling is almost impossible.

A friend came up with a list of dishes indited on a paper. They believe, any party or gathering without liquor will be a bland one, hinting me to buy Royal Stag liquor which is preferred over all other of same rate. It will be quite difficult to please them with the amount that I have in my ATM card. We sail in the same boat, so I know they won't take it as a feeble excuse. As of now, let me mute myself and act pretentiously clueless as if I have forgotten my birthday which I should competently term as Silver Jubilee- 25 years of prosperous stay.

Adaptability and Flexibility

Adaptability, the ability to change in order to conform to the varied circumstances. It is something which has to be correlated with physical environment and bodily action. For instance, long legged spotted cat Cheetah is the fastest predator because they feed on herbivores like Deer and Reindeer who has the pace which can be appreciated. The quest for survival is to be the fastest runner and surpass the pace of Deer. How does it survive? Precisely by being fast, active and responsive. Similarly, Giraffes’ unusually long neck is also connected with adaptability and survival. It lives a vegetarian life in perfect harmony with the environment, feeding on tweaks of trees not on the green grasses.

Human beings are also of varied colors and aborigines to fit in our own locality or region. The ones dwelling in hot places are generally dark and fairer as we go ascend to the north. The good part in us is we have that adaptable attribute which makes us a step ahead of other beings and the only reason why people are seen in numberless acres of lands throughout the world. Adaptability comes along with flexibility. We get adapted to the new place only due to our flexible personality and some harsh bearings. Had it not been the attitude and positive mind set, we will surely strive to be in line with the people and the new environment. Flexibility overturns the disagreeable, unpleasant situations and circumstances in a more profound way. To adapt or conform oneself to a new or different environment happens in a wink, but understanding the people and the society’s norm and culture requires mental effort to accomplish and endure.

People are there to comment and sputter if a stranger does something related to their culture in someone’s place. There is no place better than home and a slightest of mistreatment from the locals makes our mind filled with agony and frustration. Only our own native place gives us the warmth and relentless happiness. The feeling of emptiness makes us miss home and the people. Even though, we get adapted to a new place, we still live up with the vivid memories of times spent together with the closed ones.  The water may be so clean and clear, but you still wish to sip tea made from the fresh spring water of your place. It is something to do with untamed human mind which always makes us to long for something that we don’t have with us. Suppose if we are flexible and easily adaptable to any environment, that doesn’t mean we can live up in any society.

If flexibility is something to do with psychology and adaptability with physicality, what would be the possible outcome of our stay in foreign places. Though, far away from home, we are still who we are and nothing strikes in my mind that makes me Unbhutanese. Adhering to the basic norms of the society is must and a mandate to be followed, but people try to cast a shadow whereby every step we take is marked and questioned. The flexibility, which helps us to adhere in the new society gets a huge whack when people around gets the fingers pointing to the temporary occupants. Therefore, people are forced to become rigid and bold, ready to get their feet firm on the ground. Such audacious steps are taken either deliberately, considering the situations around. Human attitude depends on the people around not the environment or the ambience that they breathe.

Hysteric moment.

Anything can happen anytime and that's something no one can foresee. Who knows what will come next. I am not sure of what I am going to write today because, nothing comes in my head other than the haunting moment that I experienced three days ago while playing basketball. The past one week was little bit busy with internal exams and project review. At times, it is good to stay engaged and busy as we never know how time passes. Trying to live up with the present, we go hmm thinking of the past moments. On certain occasions, things in life make us to sit back and just smile reminiscing those bygone moments.

While trying to live up in the present, we get to experience many new things. 16th September wasn't a good day for me. Exams and other college activities are the true vasoconstrictor for the collegians. It makes one go fatigue to the point of mental exhaustion. I experienced the same for being busy with books and doing internal exam which constitute 40% of the total mark.  As usual, I thought to stretch out myself by playing basketball with my friends. Everyone was excited to get back into the basketball court.

Tired faces of lads around me just hinted me that they have strained a lot with sleepless nights hitting the books. I wasn’t feeling that energetic with mild headache and giddiness. I just wanted to play with a mild headache which I took it easy as always. As I tried to actively take part in the game, I could no longer stand firm on my feet. I remembered nothing except the time that I bowed down to take rest. When I got back to the sense after a minute or so, friends were surrounding me as if they have seen an alien. I simply tried to stand on my feet despite the fact that I had badly injured my right shoulder with a bruise on my right cheek.

I had a total black out for a few minutes which I didn’t cognize. This incident is the first of such kind that I experienced during the entire two and half decades of my life.  For now I can just cast away the incident from my memory and be cautious and mindful in my everyday life, keeping in mind the purpose of my presence here. We will never exist indefinitely for long duration in this earth, but we are bestowed with the choice to live every minute euphorically. I am glad to have the best moments of my life with the wonderful people around me. Feels extraordinarily rejuvenated to stay with the lads who make me feel more youthful of my age. In the mercy of God, I stay calm and happy for allowing me to breathe the bracing air.
